This year isn’t just another year for Latitude Festival – this is the year that they celebrate their 10th birthday, and they’ve organised one hell of a party for it!
The UK’s most relaxed festival is back, with the colourful sheep, striking setting and a wide array of arts, music and culture that made its name. This year, the Obelisk Arena hosts as headliners Alt-J, Portishead and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, and also will be playing host to JP Cooper, Caribou, Seasick Steve, Summer Camp, James Blake and Badly Drawn Boy.
Elsewhere the iArena promises to serve up the next big things in the middle of the woods. After dark the stage becomes the atmospheric setting for a choice selection of DJs to carry you through into the early hours, including DJ EZ and Ben UFO.
For the first time at Latitude, Ireland curators Other Voices are putting on special one-off performances across Henham Park. The Unthanks, All We Are, Mercury Award winning Young Fathers and East India Youth have all signed up for sets. Eaves, All Tvvins, This Is The Kit and Rozi Plain will also be making an appearance.
Of course, there’s plenty more to Latitude than just the music as its one of the few festivals to celebrate other arts and culture in equal measure. Highlights include: National Theatre Live presents Carol Anne Duffy’s adaptation of Everyman, with Chiwetel Ejiofor of 12 Years a Slave fame stepping into the title role; Jason Manford, Alan Davies, Jon Richardson, all performing headline slots on the comedy stage along with Adam Hills, Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker bringing a live iteration of their popular channel four show The Last Leg; and performances, talks, and installations in the Faraway Forest.
Latitude Festival runs from Thursday 16th July until Sunday 19th. Day and weekend tickets are available, and for those seeking to avoid the standard camping experience there are also various glamping options available too.
