Ugh. For God’s sake Leeds, we get it, you have all the best bands. Stop rubbing it in our faces already. Actually, don’t – just keep drip feeding us those delicious, delicious riffs while we slowly bang our heads in this dark, sweaty club.
If you’re a fan of the likes of Humanfly, Narcosis, The Plight, Gentleman’s Pistols, Send More Paramedics and Red Stars Parade then this new one from False Flags might well tickle your pickle, particularly if you like riffs forged from what sounds like a rusted lawnmower blade and a man gargling a pint of nails. As it goes, this relentlessly fertile breeding ground has birthed another monster – featuring members of Red Stars, Whores Whores Whores, and Year of the Man they cite their influences as the likes of Unsane, Breather Resist, Botch and Coalesce.
You can check out new track ‘Last Screen Goddess’ below – an angle-ground slab of suitably filthy rock that drags its bloated corpse through the remnants of Hawk Eyes, Blacklisters and KONG. Their debut mini-album Hex Machine is released on 20th November, and if the rest of it is anywhere near as ferocious and bloody-minded as this you can consider us well and truly sold, sirs.
Guitarist Charles Pritchard comments on the new project; “after the break-ups of our previous bands in Leeds and all previously being friends from the DIY scene here, we wanted to form a band that took influence more from the noise rock / dischordant hardcore end of the spectrum.”
Upcoming shows:
25th September – Wharf Chambers, Leeds w/ Nomasta, Amplifighters & Liber Necris
