Filmwerk Reviewer’s Best of 2015

Once again we are at an end of the year: A year that saw the comic book movie start to faulter with the likes of Age of Ultron and Fantastic Four not exactly hitting it big with critics and audiences. Universal seemed to run off with the lions share of money with a string of hits including two billion dollar breakthroughs in Fast and Furious 7 and Jurassic World. The Spy movie did very well for itself starting with Kingsmen, and the pushing on through the year with The Man From UNCLE, Spy, the return of James Bond in SPECTRE and  finally Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation.  but even then some of these had their issues.

Every genre seemed to have their own surprise hit – The action genre added John Wick, The horror genre marked It Follows. But truly this must be a return of the intelligent Science Fiction movie – Ex Machina, Predestination, The Martian, Mad Max Fury Road and then that little history set far away and long ago had a sizeable hit at the end of the year.

But it also proved to be a year where even Netflix couldn’t save Adam Sandler’s quality of film!

Here then is what the team thought of 2015 with our overall top 10 at the bottom:
