Track of the Day: Fear of Men – ‘Island’

Brighton’s Fear of Men have released the video for ‘Island’ today, with the band’s singer Jessica Weiss explaining that the song is about “independence and empowerment, and how problematic this can be when you’re still tied to the expectations of others.”

‘Island’ is the first single from Fear of Men’s upcoming second album, Fall Forever, out June 3rd via Kanine Records.

The band head out on a short UK run this month, which will serve as an opportunity for UK fans to hear the new record in a live setting. Full show details can be found below.

The video’s director, Eleanor Hardwick, describes it as covering “the subconscious state between the death of a past self being reborn into a stronger self”, something that’s reflected in the video’s imagery: all rugged moors, candlelit churches and ritualistic fires.
