A Quick Chat With: Create To Inspire

Essex melodic hardcore outfit Create To Inspire recently released their new EP ‘Home Is Where My Heart Dies’ with Basick Records. Since their inception, the band have climbed the ranks at an impressive rate: 2014 saw the quintet win the Red Bull Studios Live At Download competition and hit up the main stage at Butserfest, going on to tour alongside While She Sleeps in May 2015. We caught up with the band to find out more about what makes them tick:

When we first started playing music…
Something seemed to gel. It wasn’t like the other x amount of bands we’d been in. We all knew what kind of music we wanted to make without having to say a word to each other, and it was awesome.

If we had to choose a new name for the band it would be: The Shits.

We knew we were on to something when…
We released our first single Shatter/Rebuild. We were just a 4-piece at the time, we didn’t even have a bass player so we just wrote it & got it out there as soon as possible with one of those lyric videos and the reaction was superb. It was like “okay, some people are digging this so let’s give them as much as we can”.

Our biggest non-musical influences is…
It probably sounds cheesy but just the stuff us & everyone else goes through every day. From taking shit from people to losing a loved one, it’s something we can all relate to and that’s important.

We’re most proud of…
Our new E.P ‘Home Is Where My Heart Dies’. It took a lot of hard work with a lot of hard working people to finally get this out to everyone. That and the stuff we’re writing now.

Our ideal support slot would be…
We’d love to support letlive just so we can watch them every night.

Something we haven’t achieved yet which we’d like to is…
Touring the USA. I don’t think we need to explain why, America looks great for shows!

Our favourite places to hang out are…
We love Cardiff! We love London too but the parking sucks. We have quite a special connection with both of those cities. That or our studio.

We can’t stop listening to…
Our two most played albums in the van are probably While She Sleeps – Brainwashed or Counterparts – Tragedy Will Find Us. Both are absolutely quality albums and are great too air drum too.

We’re not ashamed to admit that…
We hate Donald Trump.

If we could wave a magic wand and make anything in the world happen it would be…
Our own tour bus so we don’t have to worry about finding places to sleep anymore!

Someone you might not have heard of that you should check out is…
We’re really digging a band called Elegies at the moment, we’re playing with them at Festivile in Doncaster on April 17th and cannot wait to see them!
