Introducing: Night Owls

Clawing their way out of the more twisted end of the miasmic swamp of the Leeds music scene that’s previously birthed the strange sounds of the likes of Hawk Eyes, Black Moth, Hook Worms and Pulled Apart By Horses, Night Owls are focused on delivering a more refined and honed version of the grunge-laden lofi rock that’s put Leeds squarely back on the international musical map in recent years.

The duo will release their debut EP ‘Informaldehyde’ on London independent label Till Deaf Do Us Party (JOHN, The Entrepreneurs, Classically Handsome Brutes) on 10th June 2016.

Meeting over a mutual love of music in secondary school, they pull influence from the weirder end of the grunge spectrum, citing the likes of Nirvana, Pixies and Queens Of a The Stone Age as their main loves, with Savages and Warpaint also getting a nod.

Commenting on the creative inspiration behind the release, the band say: “The tracks are mainly about desperation, rejection and the gradual dislike of someone, with a brighter, tongue in cheek side coming out in the instrumentation. We were really inspired by the whole idea of a relationships gone sour, as both of us had experienced that around the time of writing, and found it a little bit of an outlet at the time.”

The pair will be revealing further details of the new EP as well as UK live dates over the coming months.
