Soundtrack My Summer: Patrick Craig

Playlists are so hot right now; summer is so hot right now; new music is so hot right now; and so, we thought to ourselves, what could be hotter than a new feature in which our new favourite bands put together a collaborative, morphing playlist to soundtrack your summer? The answer is that nothing could be hotter than that, not even Boris Johnson’s undercarriage on a warming summer evening in Soho, so without further do we spoke to songwriter Patrick Craig to kick things off with his choices:

Smith Street Band – Surrender

“I’m seeing these guys at 2000 Trees this summer and I am so excited about that. They are also touring at intimate venues so I’m going to have to make it along to one of those shows too. I absolutely love this band, and I am so excited about seeing them live for the first time.”

Ducking Punches – Taking Back the Living Room

“This is from their most recent record and it is brilliant. This track is particularly standout and has been on repeat in my car CD player since I got the album. It’s also good fun to sing the chorus really loud with the windows down!”

Ben Marwood – We Are No Longer 25

“I love Ben very much and I’m so happy that he’s back with a new album coming soon. I’m really excited for his new material so I’m going to listen to him a lot this summer in preparation.”

George Gadd – Sweet Tea

“Someone else who has new music coming soon is the fantastic singer/songwriter George Gadd. This song in particular is perfect for sitting with a cold drink in the evening sun with. We’re also trying to plan some stuff together soon.”

The Hold Steady – Chips Ahoy

“This year is the 10 year anniversary of ‘Boys And Girls In America’. On Instagram they are teasing at something, specifically that Franz Nicolay is back playing with them. So to celebrate that fact, I’m going to listen to this song on loop, as it features the best organ solo I’ve ever heard.”
