Drake Set to Perform Massive Show at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas

The MGM has long been a staple on the Las Vegas Strip, and has been an integral part in offering world-class entertainment to tourists and locals in Sin City. But the entertainment giant raised the bar when it completed the construction of its new T-Mobile Arena. What is already the premier concert venue in the state of Nevada, it has showcased some of the biggest music stars in the world since its opening in April.

In the world of hip hop, there are few names bigger than Drake. His recent announcement of the upcoming North American tour dates, are a culmination of his work. Playing some of the biggest arenas in the United States and Canada, Drake will perform in front of millions during the months of July, August and September of this year. However, it was Drake’s announcement that he will perform at the MGM’s T-Mobile Arena that stood out among all the dates that were announced.

Drake is no stranger to Las Vegas – he’s performed that many times over the years. The show at the T-Mobile Arena will be in support of his latest album ‘View from the 6’ which was released on April 19 and was exclusive to Apple Music. And according to the arena’s website, the show is already sold out.

For the lucky people who managed to score a ticket for the Vegas show, they will be treated to a state of the art 20,000 all-seater arena purpose built to showcase the best international talent. The Killers opened the arena on April 6, they were then followed by Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Guns N’ Roses, Garth Brooks, and well the list goes on. Additionally, George Strait, Five Finger Death Punch, Carrie Underwood, Coldplay, Keith Urban, Gwen Stefani and Dixie Chicks are all scheduled to play the arena this year.

MGM’s heightened focus on live entertainment has been gradually accentuated over the last decade. Due to the increased use of online gaming platforms, such technological advances have greatly impacted casino operators in Las Vegas. Having to compete with platforms across the world that offer live dealers that interact with online players has made the digital form of casino gaming extremely appealing to the consumer, thus the MGM and co. have found today’s industry challenging, to say the least. But their rapidly expanding portfolio means they now have a slew of revenue streams and no longer place great emphasis on its gaming revenues.

With the MGM already announcing a stream of high profile international artists, the T-Mobile Arena’s event calendar is looking stacked for 2016. However, Drake’s show remains the only sold out show on the listings.

Drake will be accompanied by Future, Roy Woods and DVSN on the Summer Sixteen tour. For more details on any of the aforementioned shows, visit the T-Mobile Arena’s official website.
