The Secret Life Of A Rock Star

The rich and the famous live in a different world to us bottom feeders, with their fame often taking them away from home and family, into the arms of eager celeb fans, WAG wannabees, and general thrill seekers.

Pop stars and international DJs quite easily fall into the cliché of rock n roll, partying to excess for long periods of time, consuming a lot of booze and narcotics. It’s an enviable life style to many youngsters, dreaming of having all the sex and cocaine they could wish for. They rarely see the come down next day, with the struggle to get out of bed, never mind get into the right frame of mind to entertain thousands of adoring, and demanding, paying customers; a daily occurrence after weeks on the road. Mind, even when the lid is lifted on these inevitable sad stories, and public fall from graces are hammered home by frothing media, it’s debatable that it would put off any aspiring pop star in the making. Live hard and die young is the motto of anyone who hasn’t lived yet.

It may be surprising to many of these adoring fans though, that often pre-show, the backstages of arenas, stadiums and clubs are not dens of iniquity. There are not rooms full of scantily clad girls, tables piled high with powder, fridges choka block with beer (ok there is ALWAYS beer). Legendary rock antics are generally not occurring during these times, and you will often find that wild child singer or DJ, lounging in a drab room with ripped couches, drinking a camomile tea alone and silently playing on their phone. Catching up with mundane things like Facebook, Twitter, emails back home, reading the latest BuzzFeed list or maybe putting a bet on a cup final or horse race. All very normal. Not quite what you may imagine – rock stars playing on an online casino such as www.spinandwin.com/ in their PJ’s or tea stained t-shirt and pants.

Even post show, the party lifestyle gets a little tiring to even the most hardcore amongst us, often meaning an early night back to the hotel or tour bus, to catch up on some reading or TV shows, with a cup of cocoa and some pizza.

Roadies however, NEVER sleep. I repeat roadies NEVER sleep. If you want to party all night, forget the band – find the roadies. They have all the drugs and will stay up till the sun rises.
