The Royal Albert Hall gives music a twist

Music with a twist…
And a little bit of something else.

The Royal Albert Hall kick off a spectacular few months of music this October, fancy something a little different? Take your pick of our previews below:

Carlos Acosta
Never seen the ballet? Never fear, for 5 nights Mr Acosta, one of the world’s leading ballet dancers takes to the stage performing some of the classics, with guests. The Pegasus choir and Paul Murphy’s orchestra will be accompanying him in what is set to be a week to remember. Don’t worry about a view in the Albert Hall, it would seem that those clever Victorians sorted that out, so from the arena or the gallery, your view of this spectacular dance sensation will not be lost. Jurassic Park in Concert
They started with Independence Day at the end of September, and even attempted to invite Aliens by sending tickets into space, thankfully their PR campaign won’t go as far as attempting to raise dinosaurs from the dead. Jurassic Park is the next in a sequence of Films at the Royal Albert Hall, played with an orchestra. If there’s one thing you spend your money on this year, I wholeheartedly suggest that this is something that you experience. Be it John William’s score for Jurassic Park, Aliens or even Harry Potter next May, you NEED to see these. Tickets for Jurassic Park here. Find the others here.

Soundtrack Silent Disco
As part of the inaugural festival of film, this is your opportunity to make history as you dance the night away to your favourite film scores in the loading bay of the Royal Albert Hall (Friday 4 November). Tickets available here.

Music to the Eyes
The Movie Poster Art Gallery, in conjunction with the Royal Albert Hall presents Music to the Eyes as part of the Hall’s first Festival of Film. This exhibition of all-original and vintage movie posters celebrates films with iconic poster graphics and outstanding musical scores, from Jaws and Star Wars (John Williams) to The Godfather (Nino Rota), Breakfast at Tiffany’s (Henry Mancini), Taxi Driver (Bernard Herrman), James Bond (John Barry) and many more. Having survived more by chance than design (in old warehouses, empty theatre basements, and through the foresight of a few unconventional individuals) this is bold, colourful, original classic film art.
The exhibition will be on display on the Royal Albert Hall’s Amphi Corridor and can be viewed when attending a performance at the Hall between 1 October – 8 November 2016, or on the following free open days:

Brit Floyd
With a spectacular new million dollar light show, state of the art video design, and even bigger stage production, Brit Floyd – Space and Time CONTINUUM promises to be the most ambitious and best Brit Floyd show yet. Brit Floyd, The World’s Greatest Pink Floyd Show, returns to London in 2016 to continue its amazing journey through fifty years of Pink Floyd, and the vast and incredible catalogue of music they have given us. As well as performing the favourite moments from The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall and The Division Bell, Brit Floyd will treat audiences to its show-stopping rendition of Echoes, in its entirety, from the landmark album Meddle, as well as a host of other Pink Floyd musical gems. Disney’s Broadway Hits
On the 23rd October the magic of Disney reaches the RAH. This musical extravaganza features unforgettable songs from best-loved Tony and Academy Award winning scores including Beauty and the Beast, Aida, The Lion King, Aladdin, Mary Poppins, Tarzan and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, performed live by world­‐class Broadway singers and West End stars with the BBC Concert Orchestra. This memorable music showcase celebrates the extraordinary talent of some of today’s greatest composers and lyricists, including Elton John, Tim Rice, Phil Collins, Richard & Robert Sherman. Christmas Spectacular
A year-on-year success sees Raymond Gubbay and his spectacular accompanying choir and orchestra take to the stage at the Royal Albert Hall on the 27, 27 and 29 December. There will, as always, be fireworks, and your favourite Christmas songs. Tickets available here.
