The Shins, Kate Tempest and Sleaford Mods added to this year’s Green Man

In case you hadn’t heard, it’s Green Man’s birthday – they’re turning 15 and are adding a brilliant, barnstorming bunch of musicians to the already-amazing #GreenMan17 line up! Tickets are flying out – so snap yours up now and join us for the Brecon Beacons’ biggest party!

With Green Man being Wales’ biggest music festival, it only seemed right to get some of the some of the biggest names in independent, electrifying music. Ahead of an eagerly awaited fifth album, they’re ecstatic to have THE SHINS showcase their enviable back catalogue of beautifully crafted guitar pop for their only UK Festival show this year.

Not only that, but they’ve got two fierce, outspoken artists to fire up and inspire you. Firstly, there’s poet and musician KATE TEMPEST, whose personal, spine-tingling way with words has found its way into albums, books and startlingly original adaptations of Shakespeare. Kate last played Einstein’s Garden way back in 2009 and, needless to say, they’re super happy to have her back! SLEAFORD MODS bring their direct, stripped back political exultations to fly the flag for punk music in 2017. Their electrifying live shows being where their bristling, confrontational energy shines brightest, we really can’t wait.

Off the back of two (!) new albums in 2016, they’ve also got blistering San Francisco’s garage rock pioneers Thee Oh Sees joining the party. And, a legend from the States, in the shape of Daniel Johnston:- a truly outsider artist, who’s spent decades finding new possibilities in the space between art and music. Shirley Collins, a true legend, celebrated for her part in the English folk revival, returns having spoken in Babbling Tongues back in 2014. Julian Cope, veteran, trailblazing voice for anti-establishment punk ideals, we’re expecting a wild, bumpy Far Out ride of a show.

With the three headliners already confirmed, in PJ Harvey, Ryan Adams and Future Islands (their only UK festival!), they’re blessed with transcendent, all-star songwriters to preside over their magnificent Mountain Stage.
