The Preatures announce London headline show
Australian quartet The Preatures recently announced their new album Girlhood,
out August 11 via Virgin EMI. To celebrate its release, the band will
bring their electrifying live show to the UK for the first time since 2015,
to headline London’s Moth Club on October 10.
Girlhood follows 2014’s acclaimed debut album Blue Planet Eyes. The album
was announced with the ice-cool video to the albums riotous title track. A
sophisticated slice of modern guitar-pop, ‘Girlhood’ was recently added to
the playlist at BBC Radio 6 Music.
Bold yet fragile, and direct but deep, The Preatures forthcoming album
Girlhood explores the contradictions of being a modern woman. The follow-up
to 2014 hit album Blue Planet Eyes sees singer Izzi Manfredi put herself
front and centre, turning different stages of her life into eleven
soul-searching sonic gems.
Girlhood was recorded in the same studio the band built to record their
debut. Locking themselves away for a year and a half to create the album,
The Preatures have emerged with a renewed energy and a more refined
pop-songcraft. Guitarist Jack Moffitt recorded and produced the sessions,
getting some initial help from Burke Reid (Courtney Barnett, Olympia,
DMA’s) and ARIA Award-winning engineer Eric J. Dubowsky (Flume, Nick
Murphy), before being mixed by industry legend Bob Clearmountain (David
Bowie, Bruce Springsteen).
Since the release of their debut EP in 2012, The Preatures have gained a
reputation as a ferocious live act. Having shared stages with the likes of
The Rolling Stones, HAIM and Garbage, the band have developed a live show
that is slick yet imbued with an unpredictable fire, where Izzi’s
powerhouse vocals take centre stage.
