X Factor’s Mason Noise joins forces with mental health charity SANE

Mason Noise, once known as the ‘bad boy of X Factor’, officially announced his ambassadorship with SANE. 100% of the profits from his hotly anticipated single release, ‘Hold Me’, will be donated to the charity with the aim of getting people to talk openly about mental health and well-being.

The Birmingham born singer was one of the X Factor’s most controversial contestants, after slamming the show’s producers during a live broadcast for cutting his air time. Since coming 7th during 2015’s show, Mason Noise has gone on to independently produce a debut single and EP, inspired by his journey to date. His latest single, ‘Hold Me’ will be released next month in partnership with mental health charity SANE.

SANE, a mental health charity spearheaded by founder and Chief Executive, Marjorie Wallace, is committed to helping people deal with mental health, as well as exposing the neglect of people suffering from mental illness and the poverty of services and information for individuals and families.

Mason Noise said, “SANE are a charity that are very close to my heart. For years I felt the need to hide the fact that I was struggling with depression and anxiety. I feared that it would make people believe that I wasn’t capable of reaching my dreams. Over the past year, I have watched people’s attitudes to mental health and well-being change. Slowly and surely, SANE and organisations like them, are proving that there’s nothing to be ashamed of. I want to encourage people to see the power in seeking an ear to talk to about what’s happening in their mind. Being given the opportunity to work with SANE is very exciting for me, and has helped me to achieve a comfortable state of mind. Never underestimate the power of being able to potentially help someone else. We all need a hand to hold, sometimes”.

23-year-old Mason has struggled with mental health issues and anxiety since the age of 17, and after seeking solace in his spirituality, his world was torn apart again in May 2016, when his girlfriend was tragically killed.

Mason Noise continued, “The new track, ‘Hold Me’, is about my experiences but is still a pop record. It’s uplifting. The sentiment is about being there for someone. As soon as I had the bare bones of the track, I knew that I needed to do something special with it – so that’s the reason I decided to donate 100% of the profits it makes to SANE. The music I have been working on for the last twelve months has really helped me to deal with losing the love of my life. I will never get over not having her by my side but I enjoy writing music about the love I feel for her. Music is what makes me whole and if nothing else, I feel very fortunate to have an outlet which can take me away from my dark places”.

SANE’s vision has remained consistent throughout its twenty nine year history: to raise public awareness, excite research, and bring more effective professional treatment and compassionate care to everyone affected by mental illness. The charity offers emotional support and information to anyone affected by mental health problems through their helpline and email services, and their online Support Forum.
