The Blue Planet In Concert With The Hallé Orchestra At Bluedot

Award-winning festival bluedot returns to the incredible Jodrell Bank Observatory, home of the iconic Lovell telescope for a weekend of deep space discovery and superlative sounds. A truly stellar line-up of music featuring 2018 headliners The Chemical Brothers, The Flaming Lips and Future Islands compliments a ground-breaking programme of live science experiments, expert talks and immersive artworks for one of the most unique festival experiences in Europe.

For the first time ever bluedot will be opening its doors a day early to host a very special live experience, The Blue Planet in Concert with The Hallé Orchestra on the Thursday to kick off the brand new family four-day format. Conducted by the original Blue Planet composer George Fenton, a concert version of the critically acclaimed soundtrack will be accompanied by an awe-inspiring HD backdrop featuring remarkable footage from the original Blue Planet 2001 television series, exploring the vast oceans on our pale blue dot and the environmental challenges this planet faces.

Opening the concert on the Thursday will be Laura Misch, a saxophonist, vocalist and producer popular with Gilles Peterson and Worldwide FM, whose extraordinary one-woman show fuses jazz and progressive electronic genres through exploring the space between analogue and electronically-manipulated sound.

Stand-alone tickets are available for this special concert whilst those wishing to extend their bluedot festival experience can purchase a Thursday bolt on ticket.

In the spirit of bluedot’s remarkable depiction of our need to embrace a more sustainable future, organisers have adopted a number of new initiatives to ensure the show is as eco friendly as possible.
