Rock ‘n’ roll legend Liam Gallagher will play at the Eden Sessions on Wednesday, June 26.
Liam will be making his return to Eden as a solo artist after having headlined a Session with Oasis in 2009.
Liam released his debut solo album As You Were in 2017 to critical and commercial success.
The album debuted at number one in the UK, outselling the rest of the top 10 of the UK Albums Chart combined. It has since been certified platinum in the UK, achieving the highest single-week vinyl sales in 20 years, with 16,000 copies sold. A second solo record is due for release this year.
Liam has been named the greatest frontman of all time by readers of Q magazine and was given the Godlike Genius award at last year’s NME Awards. In 2017, he was given the Icon Award and Best Live Act award at the Q Awards and was named Rock ‘n’ Roll Star of the year at the GQ Men of the Year Awards.
Rita Broe, Eden’s marketing director, said: “Liam Gallagher is a music icon and a rock legend. He has the presence, swagger and unmistakable voice to make this one of our most memorable Sessions yet.”
Liam found fame as part of the legendary rock band Oasis, who became one of the most successful acts in British music history.
Oasis have had eight UK number-one singles and eight UK number-one albums. They won seventeen NME Awards, nine Q Awards, four MTV Europe Music Awards and six Brit Awards.
Their second album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? is the third best-selling studio album in UK chart history, and was the UK’s biggest-selling album of the 1990s.
The band were listed in the Guinness World Records book in 2010 for “Longest Top 10 UK Chart Run by a Group” after an unprecedented run of 22 top 10 hits in the UK. They also hold the Guinness World Record for the most successful act in the UK between the years 1995 and 2005, spending 765 weeks in the top 75 singles and albums charts.
Following Oasis’ split, Liam formed Beady Eye with former Oasis members Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock. Together they released two albums, both of which reached the top five in the UK Albums Chart.
The Eden Sessions enter their 18th year in 2019 with Stereophonics (June 20), Nile Rodgers & CHIC (June 21), The Chemical Brothers (June 28 – sold out) and Kylie Minogue (July 2 and 3 – both sold out) the other artists confirmed for the season so far.
