WEATHERSTATE Release stripped back version of new single ‘Hangar’

Fresh off the success of their massively hooky new single ‘Hangar,’ Weymouth punk band Weatherstate have taken to the studio to record their forthcoming album. To hold fans over in the meantime, the band have shared a stripped back version of their latest single.

Given the circumstances with everything at the moment we hadn’t had a chance to get together, so being in the studio working on the record posed a great opportunity to make the most of our time and shoot some extra pieces,” shares vocalist and guitarist Harry Hoskins.

He continues: “We wanted to shoot something a little different to a standard acoustic ballad rendition of a track, especially given the nature of Hangar as a song, so we leant into more of a stylised approach when it came to the rearrangement to play to its strengths.”

‘Hangar’ is the first track the band have released via their new label Rude Records and the riff-fuelled composition was expertly produced by Four Year Strong’s Alan Day. Rising to the challenges that COVID has posed, Weatherstate have been working with Day as a producer remotely.

‘Hangar’ is a track very much driven by the dramatic events of 2020 and is clearly just as relevant today as it was when it was written. Hoskins says “The track is about a phone call to a friend last summer, about how f*cked everything is. Growing numb and bitter towards everything and everyone, but also learning to find peace within our own individual coping mechanisms. Understanding that sometimes a crutch is needed to stay sane, whether that be self destructive, or progressive through the helping hand of a friend.”
