Watchet Festival 2021 confirmed

Watchet Live CIC are delighted to confirm that Watchet Festival 2021 will be taking place, in line with the move to Step 4 of the government’s COVID recovery roadmap. This makes it one of the few UK music festivals to take place this summer.

In order to ensure a safe and secure environment for all, a significant number of voluntary COVID-safe provisions will be in place. All tented stages will be open-sided to significantly improve airflow. Hand sanitiser and facemasks, whilst voluntary, will be available free of charge on arrival and at various locations throughout the site. All attendees who are not double vaccinated are being strongly advised to undertake a lateral flow test prior to arrival, and anyone who is self-isolating and/or unable to attend this year’s event due to a positive test will be able to transfer their ticket to 2022 at no cost. Enhanced cleaning will be in place, including backstage (where all staff will be wearing face coverings throughout the event). Reusable cups have been replaced by fully compostable single-use ones. Watchet continues to work closely with the local authority to further mitigate and reduce risk, wherever possible and reserves the right to further enhance COVID measures if deemed appropriate for the safety and security of all.

As previously announced, the vast majority of the Watchet 2021 line up has been carried over from last year’s cancelled event, with major acts including Gabrielle, Shed Seven, Toyah, The Blockheads, Sister Sledge and many more all performing at this year’s event. We are also proud to announce that headliners The Feeling, Desmond Deckers band “The Aces” and Hue & Cry have been added to the bill. Sadly The Blockheads and The Maytals band are no longer able to perform.

All 2020 ticket purchases remain valid for Watchet 2021. All camping tickets have sold out, With just a few non-camping tickets remaining, the organisers are urging anyone who wishes to attend to buy their tickets shortly to avoid disappointment. Watchet LIVE CIC remain grateful for the grant received earlier this year via the Culture Recovery fund, ensuring the viability of this year’s Festival, and ensuring Watchet remains a vibrant and diverse place to live and visit.

Watchet CIC representative Mark Bale, says: After what seems like an eternity without live music and festivals, we are extremely excited to confirm that Watchet 2021 will indeed be taking place! We have an absolutely brilliant line up for this year, which is guaranteed to put a smile on everyone’s face. We will of course be doing everything in our power to create a safe and secure environment for all, and ask for your help, patience and assistance to ensure everyone who comes to Watchet 2021 is responsible and thoughtful of everyone’s needs. I simply cannot wait to welcome all our friends, from near and far, back to our award-winning festival this August Bank Holiday weekend.

Cllr Derek Perry, Executive Member for Sports, Parks and Leisure, and Deputy Leader of Somerset West and Taunton Council, said: I am delighted that this popular event is able to make a welcome return with a wealth of measures in place to help keep everyone including our residents as safe as possible.“We have been able to work with Watchet CIC, using the specialist advice of our Somerset-wide Covid Support Officer to ensure the festival takes place in a COVID-safe environment. I would encourage everyone to observe the provisions in place and enjoy themselves in as responsible a way as possible.

Watchet Festival is a not-for-profit family festival with amazing views of the West Somerset coastline and beyond. Three live stages host more than 60 live acts, bringing a wide range of high-calibre musical acts not normally found performing in West Somerset, at a very affordable price.

Watchet 2021 is set to continue the festival’s tradition of completely selling out in advance, with extremely limited numbers remaining. All tickets previously purchased for 2020 remain valid for 2021. Please note all on-site Camping and Campervan tickets have already sold out.

Alongside an incredible line up and a wide variety of high-quality food stalls, the extensive in-house Cider and Real Ale Bar prices are kept as low as possible, providing one of the best-value refreshments offerings to be found at any event in the UK.

Watchet LIVE Festival will once again support a wide variety of local charities.

Watchet Live CIC, the charity behind Watchet Live Festival, are proud recipients of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service; the highest award that can be given a volunteer group in the UK.
