Hampton Court Palace Festival makes triumphant return on opening night

Audiences were warmly welcomed back to Hampton Court Palace Festival with true regal splendour last night as acclaimed singer-songwriter and blues legend Van Morrison kicked-off the festival with an enthralling performance of his timeless hits including Brown Eyed Girl, Moondance and a number of tracks from his new album Latest Record Project, Volume 1.  

Performing live from the iconic Base Court of the historic Hampton Court Palace, Morrison was the first artist to take the stage in this year’s run of hugely popular shows with Björn Again, Bastille ReOrchestrated, Keane and Tom Jones completely sold out. A very small number of tickets remain available for Nile Rodgers & CHIC’s funk-filled night on Sunday 22 August.    

Now in its 25th year, Hampton Court Palace Festival is a series of truly special and unique open-air concerts. Artists perform in an intimate 3,000-seat auditorium in Base Court, set against the backdrop of Henry VIII’s magnificent Tudor Palace. Attendees will arrive at the Palace Gardens to enjoy a spot of picnicking with picnic hampers provided by Fortnum & Mason. Crafted with the very best seasonal ingredients fresh from Fortnum’s famous Food Halls, and packed with summer-ready tipples, two picnic options are available for guests to enjoy. Guests can sit and relax in luxury too with the addition of the beautiful waterside gazebos. Picnics and gazebos are available to purchase now when buying tickets for the festival, or separately up until 72 hours before the desired show.    

For a truly unforgettable experience, exclusive dining and corporate entertainment packages in the palace’s spectacular state apartments are also available to purchase now.
