Natural History Museum Ice Rink Returning For The Final Time In 2021

London’s Natural History Museum Ice Rink is returning for the 2021 winter season for the last time. Set against the beautiful backdrop of one of London’s most iconic landmarks, skaters can take to the ice from Friday 22 October 2021 until Sunday 16 January 2022. After a one year hiatus and difficult Christmas for many in 2020, the NHM Ice Rink is back to restore some festive cheer and reunite friends and families with a much-loved London winter tradition. Tickets are on sale NOW at www.nhmskating.com.

After an incredible 16 years, this will be the ice rink’s last year at the Natural History Museum before the Museum’s five-acre site in South Kensington is transformed into a welcoming, accessible and biologically diverse green space in the heart of London as part of the Museum’s Urban Nature Project.

A perfect day out in a simply stunning setting, the Natural History Museum Ice Rink welcomes all ages and abilities. This year, the sparkling rink, located along South Kensington’s twinkling tree-lined streets, will once again be topped off with a spectacular30ft Christmas tree, the perfect centrepiece to everyone’s skating experience.

The popular Café Bar will also return this year as well as a tasty array of hot food sold outside in the Museum Gardens. Skating lessons will be available via the website, and the Penguin Skate Club will make its return for children’s skate lessons on Saturday mornings from 6 – 20 November and 27 November – 8 January (excluding New Year’s Day). Please see the website for more details.

Joel Smith, Vice President of Arts & Entertainment Events at IMG said:

“The Natural History Museum Ice Rink has been a winter staple for over 15 years and we have enjoyed a fantastic relationship with the team at the Natural History Museum. We are looking forward to our final year at this stunning location and wish them all the best in transforming this space through the Urban Nature Project. We encourage people to book tickets early for the ice rink this year to ensure they don’t miss out on their final chance to skate at this most spectacular ice rink in London.”

Clare Matterson, Executive Director of Engagement at the Natural History Museum said: “We are really pleased that the Ice Rink is able to return for one last Christmas after such a difficult winter last year. Following the closure of this year’s Ice Rink, the Museum grounds will be transformed into a biodiversity hub through our Urban Nature Project, helping the next generation develop the strong connection with nature.”
