Leicester-born singer-songwriter Causier today releases his debut single ‘Vitamins’ via Good As Gold Records. Produced by long-time collaborator and childhood friend RJ, ‘Vitamins’ is a wistful and melancholic introduction to Causier’s sonic world, which combines introspective and confessional lyrics over electronic infused, alt-pop production. The track is the first taste of Causier’s debut EP (details TBA), written and recorded over the past year alongside his peers in an impressively DIY setup.
Speaking on the track, Causier explains: “The song ‘Vitamins’, is about learning to live with unrequited love. Knowing that each interaction with that person is causing you pain but you can’t help yourself from wanting more. It’s as melancholic as it is playful, because sometimes we put what we want before what we need and when you’re in denial like that it’s easier to think “this may hurt a bit, but I’m gonna do it anyway”.
As yet another stellar artist to emerge out of a bubbling music scene within Leicester, (alongside the likes of Sainté, bb, RJ and more – all of whom are friends), Causier’s rise coincides with a huge cultural moment for the small Midlands city. Inspired by a hugely diverse array of artists, ranging from the trailblazers he grew up listening to like Prince, Jeff Buckley and The Beatles as well as contemporary artists like Brent Faiyaz, Noname and Vegyn, Causier’s stamp on the zeitgeist sounds refreshingly forward-thinking and marks him as a star to watch in 2022.
