Partnerships & Initiatives
The summer event will be soundtracked by ILM curated DJ sets from artists, labels and friends throughout the day culminating with a special after party at Spiritland. For the ILM Summer event, the wildly popular Spiritland Soundsystem will be making its return. An imposing presence inspired by the heavyweight UK funk and soul soundsystems of the 1980s, the system is a mix of vintage speakers and modern digital amplification.
Other ILM friends and partners present on the day include much loved bi monthly independent music magazine Loud and Quiet and the environmental pressure group, Music Declares Emergency who will be presenting their Music Industry Climate Packs: accessible guides to greening the music industry – for businesses, artists and fans. Downloadable now from www.musicdeclares.net. The AIM Climate Action Group (formed by Association of Independent Music’s members) will have a stall at ILM for the first time. Labels and creatives can find out what support is available to run their business and release music in a more eco-friendly way. They can find out how to measure and reduce carbon emissions, how to support artists to speak up on climate issues and how to use their own platforms to raise awareness. AIM and the AIM CAG also initiated the #MusicClimatePact through which the independent music community, major music groups and others have committed to working together to address our biggest environmental impacts.
There will be a fundraiser at this event for the Disasters Emergency Committee with exclusive merch available from Awesome Merch. Market goers can buy totes, stickers, pin badges and prints designed by graphic artist Dan Wilson on a pay what you can basis with all profits going to the charity’s Ukraine Appeal.
