All Points East release full line up for The Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie

Uber One presents All Points East is excited to announce the incredible full line up accompanying The Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie at Victoria Park this summer. Enchanting folk storytellers The Decemberists, indie-pop heavyweights Phoenix, and the fierce energy of Gossip and Sleater-Kinney join the innovative and eclectic billing, plus Yo La Tengo, Teenage Fanclub, Wednesday and Soft Launch.

To celebrate two decades of Give Up and Transatlanticism, The Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie have joined forces for an unprecedented 20th anniversary co-headline tour. Now heading back to London, this show will continue the huge anniversary celebrations. Each night, Benjamin Gibbard, the co-founder of both bands, will pull double duty performing with The Postal Service – comprised of Gibbard, Jimmy Tamborello, and Jenny Lewis – as well as with Death Cab for Cutie (alongside Nick Harmer, Dave Depper, Zac Rae, and Jason McGerr). The extraordinary show will see both iconic groups performing their seminal 2003 albums in full.

This will be The Postal Service’s first appearance in London for over 10 years, so this performance will be an incredibly special celebration of two groups who defined an era and are held in the hearts of music fans across the world.

Led by the literary-inspired lyrics of frontman Colin Meloy, The Decemberists have paved the way for a narrative-driven, conceptual sound that has earned them revered status in the indie-folk scene. Diving into wholly unique musical escapades such as 2006’s The Crane Wife, inspired by a Japanese folk tale, or their 2009 rock opera The Hazards of Love, Meloy’s unconventional approach is an assured testament to the boundless nature of music.

Grammy-winning French group Phoenix are known for their infectious, hooky synth-pop. They achieved international acclaim with their breakout album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (2009), while their hit single ‘1901’ soared on charts worldwide.

American trio Gossip will be bringing fierce energy to Victoria Park this summer. Led by the charismatic Beth Ditto, Gossip achieved chart success with hits like ‘Standing in the Way of Control’ and ‘Heavy Cross’, the former becoming an anthem for LGBTQ rights.

Likewise, Sleater-Kinney represents a true feminist punk ethos. Originating as part of the riot grrrl movement in Washington DC, their landmark 1997 album, Dig Me Out earned a spot on Rolling Stone’s ‘500 Greatest Albums of All Time’ in 2020. Their latest album Little Rope was released this year, already earning critical acclaim from the likes of Pitchfork, NME and The New York Times.

Indie veterans Yo La Tengo will also be gracing the All Points East stage. The eclectic outfit have released seventeen studio albums since their formation in 1984, consistently appealing to the understated, sweet charm of alternative music. The 2023 album This Stupid World was their first in five years, described by Pitchfork as “Their liveliest album in at least a decade.” Glaswegian icons Teenage Fanclub share a similar sentiment. Described by CLASH as “One of life’s ever-presents – always there, always dependable, and always releasing new music,” their brand of sparkly, guitar-based power pop stays strong and will be sure to bring energy this summer.

Rising sensation Wednesday’s unique marriage of shoegaze and country rock shows no sign of slowing down, already having released three albums since their debut in 2020. North Carolina natives, dusty tales of the American South will be heard reverberating across Victoria Park this summer.

London locals Soft Launch are the youngest on this lineup of legends. They offer a glimpse into their repertoire with a singular release titled ‘Bonsai’ – a synth-laden, atmospheric and driving hit, with touches of 90s nostalgia intertwined with a headstrong modern energy.

Touching all corners of the alternative sphere, this momentous lineup is a celebration of music history. Uber One presents All Points East will bring these enduring names to Victoria Park as a salute to this legacy.

Alongside The Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie are previously announced headliners Loyle Carner (17 August) and LCD Soundsystem (23 August) for Uber One presents All Points East. More acts still to be announced.
