Inbred Review

Director Alex Chandon returns after a prolonged absence with perhaps is best looking and most efficient film to date.  Looking back at his previous works, the man clearly had been experimenting on a very low budget. But!

So a bunch of ASBO youths are dragged out against their will to the northern English countryside on a bit of a field trip – only to come up a cropper against the locals. The locals that is who enjoy a bit of sadism against outsiders who get their shirts up. And so ensues some very over the top kills, splatter and comedic gore like you haven’t seen before. And the film makes no apologies along the way.

If the film falls down anywhere then it’s simply that the plot loses any sort of momentum once it really starts to get going, and as a result just sort of ends.

The protagonists are a shouty unsympathetic bunch, so you end up residing with the antagonists – who are a colour bunch for sure. A few more gags on their side might have made them somewhat more memorable, but for indoor cheapo schlock, this one is a good laugh from start to end. Don’t forget to watch it with suitable company and a large stack of beer.
