The Dark Knight Rises DVD Review

Christpher Nolan’s trilogy comes to end at last, and while debate about which of the three is the best of the trilogy, it’s almost a forgone conclusion that as a whole each film is strong, and that the series ended very satisfactorily.

We find Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) holed up in Wayne Manor (for what has been years) licking his wounds and leading the reclusive life whilst Gotham has all but wiped out major crime. That is until bane (Tom Hardy) and his team of mercenaries start to attack gotham. Add to this the slinky Selina Kyle (Anne Hathaway) whose cat burglary skills seem intent on putting Bruce Wayne at a disadvantage. Batman it seems has to come back out from hiding and face down these new enemies – despite the warning signs glaring above his head.

As usual, Christopher Nolan and his team have mounted an impressively complex plot on their canvas. The story is gripping, Bale put in his best performance of the trilogy yet and he is ably backed up by regulars Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman. Add to this roster of allies comes young police officer John Blake (a very impressive Joseph Gordon Levitt).

The Dark Knight Rises brings the Bat back in style and will leave most fans of the series with tears in their eyes by the time the film reaches its climax. Truly a perfect trilogy.

The DVD comes with a short featurette on the story of Bruce Wayne – sadly not much else. But this is one series that down the years that is bound to get the platinum treatment with the documentaries they deserve
