Cheltenham-based alternative/punk quintet, Midweek are delighted to share their impressive debut single, ‘Honey, Darling’ available through iTunes, Spotify, Amazon and all the usual online retailers.
Tipped as “one to watch” in the Gloucestershire area, ‘Honey, Darling’ see’s Midweek offering up a charming slice of alternative rock, packed with poppy hooks and just the right amount of punk rock grit. The song’s release comes hot on the heels of the band’s first headline show last night in their hometown of Cheltenham, England, at the popular Frog & Fiddle music venue.
With influences like Lower Than Atlantis, Jimmy Eat World and Basement guiding their way, Midweek formed in May 2017 whilst studying Popular Music at University. Within just a few months and with several shows already under their belt, Midweek made their way to Southampton to record the first of a series of new singles with esteemed UK rock producers Neil Kennedy and Daly George (Milk Teeth, Creeper, Boston Manor).
Commenting on the new single, vocalist/guitarist, Joseph Holmes said, “Honey, Darling is about a friend who was in a really negative relationship. The lyrics I write always tend to be reactions to certain events that happen in my life, good or bad and this one was no different. My friend was with someone who walked all over her and it drove me crazy – the lyrics tell that story”.
