Liverpool’s Parr Street Studios have announced a series of 25 short documentaries celebrating their 25th anniversary.
To mark this anniversary the studio will produce, document and release a series of 25 recording projects, one for each year of its existence. These will highlight the heritage of the building and the wealth and breadth of artists that have recorded in the space as well as, vitally, the community, and environments surrounding the artists that pass through Parr Street’s doors and make the city an amazing space for artists to work, live and play.
The first part in the series focuses on a special Liverpool-based live performance of minimalist classical composer Steve Reich’s three movement piece for string and tape, ‘Different Trains’.
The documentary charts the recording of the soundtrack for the visual accompaniment to the performance by artist and filmmaker Bill Morrison. The film expands on the process that went into the recording, as well as the musician’s expectations of the performance.
Further episodes featuring high profile collaborations, in depth genre features and exclusive live sessions TBA over the comings months.
