Track of the Day: John Carpenter – Distant Dream

Not content with a glittering career as a horror movie director, John Carpenter has branched out into the realms of electronic music and will be releasing a new album Lost Themes II this April 15th on Sacred Bones

The record’s first single ‘Distant Dream’ is an avantgarde but accessible slice of sci-fi infused electronica shot through with live drums and distorted synths. It’s contemporary whilst retaining some retro kitsch and could easily sit at home on both the Bladerunner soundtrack and on the dancefloor at Berghain.

The track accompanies a string of new live dates, including first ever appearances in the U.S., adding to the previously announced UK shows and European festival dates. These shows will be Carpenter’s first ever live performances and will see him take to the stage accompanied by his son Cody Carpenter, godson Daniel Davies and a full backing band, performing his classic film score themes and recent works from Lost Themes I and II.
