It looks like The Libertines aren’t out of the woods just yet – fans were left disappointed last night when lead singer Pete Doherty failed to turn up for their gig in London.
The crowd at the Electric Ballroom were growing restless as their set time of 9.15pm came and went, with ticket buyers cheering as the minutes ticked by with no sign of the band.
After waiting for nearly three hours, fans were finally told that the show was going to be postponed due to a “medical situation” with many understandably angry fans throwing missiles at the stage.
“Due to an emergency – a medical situation – tonight’s show is being postponed” a spokesperson told the unhappy crowd “I say postponed because I mean postponed, not cancelled. A new date will be released tomorrow.”
In a statement on their official Facebook page apologising for the postponement and also announcing that their Manchester show was also to be postponed, the band said:
“Peter, Carl, John and Gary apologise whole heartedly to their fans and will reschedule both shows as soon as possible.”
