Here’s something to cheer up a Friday morning – Take Me Back In A Dream, the stunning new single from Canadian artist Christina Martin, released today.
Taken from her acclaimed album ‘It’ll Be Alright,’ out earlier this year, and produced by Dale Murray (Cuff The Duke) Take Me Back In A Dream is accompanied by a captivating new video, made by Canadian production house Shut Up & Colour Productions and directed by Jason Levangie.
‘One of my favorite moments in recording this song was when I finished tracking the main vocals,’ says Halifax based Christina. ‘Suddenly I found space to include a chant that has got me through tough times. The Hindu mantra is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, remover of obstacles.’
Like the song itself, the video’s striking cinematography is dreamlike, and shows Christina and her band in a different light than the rootsy image she has been known for up until now.
‘It was a privilege for me to work with choreographer Corey Bowles to incorporate expression through dance in this video. Apart from recollecting difficult memories, the video brings light to empowering tones of resilience.’
Born in Florida and raised in Canada’s Maritimes, Martin’s musical journey since her first release in 2002 has led to extended stays in Austin, Texas, as well as Germany, from where she has cultivated a substantial following across mainland Europe.
Christina released her fifth studio album, It’ll Be Alright earlier this year. Promoting the album included three months touring Europe, including a string of UK dates and representing Canada as ‘Artist in Residence’ in the City of Dachau, Germany.
An early 2016 UK & European tour is also confirmed, with dates to be announced.
