Track of the Day: Anna von Hausswolff – Come Wander With Me/Deliverance

If music should be judged on its ability to invoke a range of emotions in the listener, there can’t be many more artists deserving of a slew of unadulterated praise than Anna von Hausswolff.

With a show at the Royal Festival Hall later today (Friday August 21st) as part of Meltdown, the songwriter has just announced the follow up to 2012’s highly acclaimed organ-led “funeral pop” album ‘Ceremony’.

Entitled ‘The Miraculous’, her new record is set for release on Friday 13th November, 2015 via City Slang.

This week sharing an awe-inspiring new 10 minute doomscape entitled ‘Come Wander With Me/Deliverance’, this is the sort of music that your parents warned you about; the sort of shamanistic, drug-fuelled, introspective nightmare vision of the future that we can only assume is how many a bad acid trip in the 70’s might have ended.

Upon reaching the end of this sprawling and jaw-dropping journey through prog, heavy metal, classical, psych, Gregorian chants and beyond, it’s difficult to come to any other conclusion than that we are truly in the presence of genius here.

If low-end be the food of doom, drone on.
