Pittsburgh punk rockers Anti-Flag are now streaming their entire new album via Art for Amnesty – Amnesty International’s platform that brings together artists, musicians, writers, filmmakers and all types of creatives who help us to navigate the complex human rights challenges we face today.
In 2013, the band joined forces with Art for Amnesty to release an electrifying version of “Toast to Freedom”, the now-classic commemorative song written to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Amnesty International. Prior to that, Amnesty International and Anti-Flag launched a 2012 campaign against torture and the NDAA Indefinite Detention Provision.
Clearly, the relationship is one based on the desire for change and the protection of human rights, as the band comment:
“Amnesty International is an organization that actually saves lives. Daily, their mission is to speak up and stand up for those who cannot for themselves. The record American Spring is about the very same idea. We have been honoured to have Amnesty International table our shows and spread the agenda of human rights and equality, continuing the battle against injustice. Having them premiere our record is a truly humbling experience.”
Anti-Flag will release American Spring on May 25 through Spinefarm Records.
