To coincide with the release of their second epic album Editors are about to embark on an emormous world tour to promote The End Has A Start.

Leanne Durr caught up with the band's lovely drummer Ed Lay to find out what he’ll be packing in his suitcase on the eve of their departure.

Which places are you most looking forward to visiting on tour?

We always look forward to going to America; also Australia is another place we’re looking forward to. We didn’t get to go there with our first album.

are there places are you a little apprehensive about visiting on tour?

No. Looking forward to it all, we just feel really lucky that we get to tour the album.

What is the most important thing you take on tour with you?

Clothes and wash bag. Chris has got really bad eyes so he needs his contact lenses and all the stuff that goes with that. Practical stuff really. I need my iPod aswell, to help me relax between shows.

What music will you be listening to on your iPod?

Sigur Ros. I’ve been listening to a lot of classical music – really into Bach at the minute, it’s relaxing.

Do you have any superstitions before you play or go on tour?

Before we do an encore we’ve started doing a shot of Jaegermeister, it’s become kind of a tradition now.

Did you enjoy all the festivals you played this summer?

Oh yes, we've played Glastonbury, V festival, Summersonic and we’ve got Idroscalo Rock in Rome coming up.

Who do you spend the most time with in the band when you’re on tour?

Probably Chris [guitar], we used to work together before the band and so did Tom and Russell, so yeah Chris.

Who or what will you miss most while you’re away?

Family, my girlfriend. You forget they’ve got normal jobs, so I’m saying 'you can catch this flight' and they’re like 'I can’t I’ve got work', so it can be difficult.
