Top 5 gigs you have to see before the end of 2012.
Deaf Havana – 14th-16th November
Deaf Havana will be finishing their headline tour with dates in Portsmouth, Norwich and London, so you will have to be quick to go and see them! They are one of Britain’s up and coming rock bands, who have put themselves apart from the rest by not only releasing a much slower album in the form of ‘Fools and Worthless Liars’, but also re-releasing their latest instalment and completely re-recording their songs, all in different styles, such as folk and acoustic, all with a rock twist. As they are still relatively unknown, a great track to check out would be ‘Little White Lies’ which really shows off lead singer James Veck-Gilodi’s great vocals.
You Me At Six – 8th December
You Me At Six are a five piece band from Surrey and are one of the biggest talents in British music at the moment, and are set to celebrate this, and also their most monumental year, with their last UK show of the year, dubbed ‘The Final Night of Sin’ after their most recent album ‘Sinners Never Sleep’. They will be playing at the Wembley Arena, which has even caused the X Factor finals to be moved to another venue, showing how much of a big following the You Me At Six boys are gaining, especially as they have never played this venue before, or any other venue this big.
Stone Sour – 10th-15th December
Slipknot’s frontman Corey Taylor’s side project Stone Sour will be accompanied by fellow US metal band Papa Roach for two dates at Brixton Academy, followed by three dates in Wolverhampton, Manchester and Bournemouth. Unlike Slipknot however they do not have masks and are nowhere near as heavy, giving Taylor’s incredible lyric writing more chance to shine in some of their slower songs such as Through Glass, whilst sticking to their metal roots in old favourites such as 30/30-150.
The Prodigy – 18th-20th December
The extrovert Essex dance/punk/rave/hardcore/rock three piece band are set to play three shows in London at the O2 Brixton Academy, and they will surely be incredible. The band are known for their upbeat and crazy songs, such as Firestarter and Omen, and are surely one of the best bands to get the entire crowd going mental. So if you fancy a rave in London, this is definitely the gig to be at.
Chase & Status – 31st December
Chase & Status are set to play at the same venue as Stone Sour and The Prodigy, the O2 Academy in Brixton, and with the gig starting at half 9, and not finishing to the early hours of the morning on the 1st of January 2013, this will be one of the best ways to enter the new year. Last year they were voted as the best live act by Drum & Bass awards, and have made a name for themselves by collaborating with huge acts such as Tinie Tempah, Cee Lo Green and Rihanna. Tickets are not yet sold out, so grab them while you can, to end your 2012!
Tickets however can be expensive these days, so don’t wait until boxing day, sell stuff online now, and make sure you attend one of these great gigs before the start of 2013.
