There’s probably never been a cooler woman in rock than Brody Dalle, and we’re willing to bet there never will be.
Not content with being the snarling, raging, centerpiece of US punks The Distillers, she was the rock’n’roll lover of Rancid man Tim Armstrong before eventually marrying Queens Of The Stone Age front man Josh Homme.
After a brief stint with side project Spinnerette, Dalle is back in solo project format with brand new single ‘Meet The Foetus/Oh The Joy’ written after a bout of post-natal depression.
Much like the subject matter, it’s a dark void of ambient noise which opens up into a full-throttle punk rager two thirds in and still harbours hints of Distillers-era trash as well as an obvious Homme influence.
Punk ain’t dead, it’s just been on maternity leave.
‘Meet The Foetus/Oh The Joy‘ is from Brody’s forthcoming début solo album ‘Diploid Love’, which is released in the UK on the 28th April.
