‘Underrated’ is the captivating third single to be taken from The Ghosts’ critically acclaimed debut album ‘The End’. The single was co- produced by Anders Kallmark (Ou Est Le Swimming Pool/ La Roux/ Little Boots) and Tim Bran (La Roux / The Charlatans). It is brooding synth pop at its very best with frontman Alex Starling singing over lush, atmospheric soundscapes.
The video was directed by Tim Burton collaborator Alex Kyrou who has also directed stunning videos for the previous two singles ‘Enough Time’ and ‘Ghosts’.
The release comes with two top drawer remixes. House legends X-Press 2 deliver a typically understated and beautifully hypnotic remix while Kallmark’s Swedish Hus Mix strips back the vocals and pumps up the beats.
The Ghosts have announced a remix competition for ‘Underrated’, with official sponsorship by Soundcloud. It will be hosted via the band’s Facebook page – link and the winning remix will be receive a cash prize of £250, a Soundcloud Pro account, The Ghosts Merchandise and will be released commercially. More details to be announced in due course.
‘The Ghosts’ formed when Alex Starling (Ou Est Le Swimming Pool) met New York trained jazz drummer Ian Palmer, and Canadian Keys/Violin player Rayna Ferner (Alan Pownall). The band are completed by Dan Whiffin and Alex Sharman. They are currently living and writing in a former music school where Elgar once taught.
This summer the band have played festivals across the UK and Europe and shared stages with the likes of The Vaccines, The Horrors and Frankie And The Heartstrings. The band will embark on the first nationwide tour at the end of October. More dates will follow throughout the autumn.
The Ghosts’ album track ‘Forgetting What We Know’ has also just been confirmed to feature on Sky Sports Monday Night Football for the 2012-13 premiership football season.
