British band Max Raptor are back with their high-impact single “The King Is Dead” and its accompanying video, above.
Released October 17th through Naim Edge Records, the Midlands four-piece have had a halcyon 2011 thus far. Recording their debut eight-track Portraits with Dan Weller of Sikth, it's received high praise and support from print media, the blogosphere and radio – with with the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show, XFM Rock Show and Kerrang! Radio all waxing lyrical.
Front-man Wil Ray talks of the new single: “Like every song from Portraits, TKID is a micro-sketch of society. The character’s shattered expectations take hold of him and his unrest becomes his madness. The definitive demeanor shows, that despite our obvious imperfections, we so eagerly deem our opinions to be perfect. The narrative cuts up and down with a schizophrenic haste, which is meant to show that things just aren’t EVER that simple. This summer’s riots in the UK for example. Opinions differ and sometimes conflict. There is never an easy answer, but it seems it is sometimes the characters who are most confused, privileged OR underprivileged, that carry the most conviction.”
Portraits is out now on Naim Edge Records. A UK tour is expected in the coming months.
