LA-based quartet Far East Movement will be following up their hit single ‘Like A G6’ –, which spent nine weeks in the UK Top 10, peaking at #6 – with their new track ‘Rocketeer’ featuring OneRepublic’s lead singer Ryan Tedder.
‘Rocketeer’ will be out on February 14th, followed by their debut album ‘Free Wired’ on February 21st through Cherrytree Records.
The single is a massive pop ballad and a change of tempo for the energetic group.
“Our second single is going to surprise a lot of Far East Movement fans in a great way” states group member J-Splif. “It’s definitely outside the box for us, but we love to push our musical boundaries”.
Donning stylish shades, skinny ties, shiny blazers and fresh kicks, Far East Movement (also known as FM) – Kev Nish, Prohgress, J-Splif, and DJ Virman – have bridged the gap between underground party records and mainstream hip-hop, dance and electro to create an original sound they call 'Free Wired'.
The group are hoping to continue the success they had in 2010, which also included a #1 single on the US billboard single, digital and iTunes charts, as well as being #1 on hype machine.

'Free Wired' is influenced by the thriving downtown LA scene and a wide array of music from fellow West Coasters like the Pharcyde and Dr. Dre, to the dance music of DJ Tiesto and Daft Punk, and features collaborations with Snoop Dogg on the bombastic ‘If I Was You’ and Lil’ Jon on the club anthem ‘Go Ape’, as well as Keri Hilson and Roger Sanchez lending their vocals to tracks. There’s also the mid-tempo dance floor track, called ‘So What’ which samples The Beastie Boys’ smash ‘So What’cha Want’.
