The Coronas – Dreaming Again

Dreaming Again is the latest single from Irish band The Coronas, taken from their excellent album Closer To You, released earlier this year. The fine love song features the smooth and even vocals of Danny O’Reilly over a melodic musical backing. It’s an emotional song well delivered and finishes with a real flourish.

The Dublin band are massive in Ireland where they are the biggest selling independent act. Perhaps not as well known yet in the UK, The Coronas are clearly a talented group and their time here will come soon.

Dreaming Again avoids falling into the clichéd love song trap. It is a ballad but it is more than that. And the excellent musicianship of the band comes through strongly behind O’Reilly’s lead vocal.

The instrumental version that comes with the single is very good too, the lack of vocals allowing Dave McPhillips’ guitar more space to shine.

The Coronas have an excellent reputation as a live band, and will be playing at Bestival this Saturday at 4pm on the Replay stage. A tour of the UK follows later in the year.
