Singtank – In Wonder

Take the Scissor Sisters, a children’s birthday party soundtrack and some 60’s retro pop nonsense, whizz it all up in a blender, top with helpings of gorgonzola. You have achieved SINGTANK.

This is quite possibly one of the worst albums ever conceived. The French siblings, babble and croon for the best part of an hour over depressingly boring and tacky piano led indie pop. At times it conjures Flaming Lips or some of Beck’s more recent releases, but this is seriously subpar in comparison.

“I want to go to Jail” sings Alexandre de La Baume (one half of the duo, made up by sister: Joséphine de La Baume) and to be quite honest I’m not sure that would be punishment enough for issuing such a pile of horse manure onto the unsuspecting public.

In a quote from their English bio about their first gig they state “The first time, we emptied a whole antivomiting box just before the gig because we were so scared.” I honestly don’t know what an ‘antivomiting box’ is but it sounds like they succeeded in emptying it and pressed the vomit into CD format.
