BuryTheLadybird – This Isn’t Me

BuryTheLadybird, a young band from Derby, are well known in their local area – and will soon become a force on the national stage. Their rock sound has a classic feel to it, but they add their own vitality to bring a freshness that is both bold and exciting.

This Isn’t Me is a song about relationships and image, about seeing the real person. It opens with a guitar riff from Matt Gascoyne that sets the tone immediately. It’s down and dirty and the drums of Seb Boyse soon join it, just a high hat at first followed by a full roll. Zach Shannon’s bass is heavy and powerful and then the guitar screams, giving the band a rich sound that is clear and even.

And then the vocals kick in. Lead singer Tiggy Dockerty has a powerful voice, but her control is good and she doesn’t fall into the trap of screaming her lyrics. She has good range too and the high notes are spot on. Dockerty’s defiant vocals are backed by some lovely guitar fills and a pounding rhythm section before the final chords bring a fine rock song to an abrupt end.

Rock music is largely about combining talent with attitude. On the basis of this single BuryTheLadybird clearly have plenty of both.
