Steve Smyth – Endless Nowadays

Endless Nowadays is the debut single from Australian bluesman Steve Smyth. A talented songwriter and guitarist, Smyth is also known for the superb vocal range he possesses. His deep, gruff voice suits a lot of his music very nicely, but Smyth is also more than capable of hitting the high notes.

This single has a lazy Americana feel to it, although there is a harder undertone to the track. The opening count comes from the click of a pair of drumsticks before the vocals and guitar kick in. The vocals are even and expressive, with a banjo in the background. And the chorus features a nice vocal harmony that amplifies Smyth’s voice.

As an introduction to the music of Steve Smyth, this track is quite a gentle one. It does speed up in the second half but Smyth’s voice is not unduly strained and he is nowhere near his limits, nor does he display his guitar playing abilities to the full. But as a single it works well and should get a fair bit of radio play.
