The Computers – Barfly, London

Upstairs in the sweaty pit that is the Camden Barfly (I say this with affection of course) the room is packed out beyond belief for what’s set to be an awesome line up, ‘The Computers’ & the fantastic ‘Gay for Jonny Depp’

The computers have had some great achievements, last year supporting Alexisonfire on tour (where, drummer, Jordan, noted them as one of the most exciting bands in the UK in our interview) and now this, all be it smaller support with GFJD amongst a scattering of other great supports and shows.

Originally from Exeter, these guys demonstrate massive promise, and the single True Identity (on 7” with a meaty clash cover for a B side) is something to really get excited about.

Live, these guys demonstrate a raw energy rivalled only by a full on square punch in the nuts delivered by the most scornful of ex girlfriends. The hype surrounding these guys is right on the money, putting all the other factory line fresh bands of the alternative scene to shame. Tracks like ‘Teenage Tourette’s Camp’ are definite crowd pleasers.

For now, a dose of 2008’s ‘you can’t hide from the computers’ is enough to keep us ticking over until their new full length album comes in May, it had better be worth the wait…
