Ok, if you haven’t heard of this band then you are going to regret it! This band might come from knoweresville but believe me they will and should live up to their ambitions.
Funeral Party had a rocky start, what with playing parking lots and backyards out of necessity. They created their very own culture and riotous gigs that led to police action.
This album is possibly the best debut I have listened to since I first heard Silent Alarm. The album kicks in with this immense funk and rhythm then before you know what has hit you this raw powerful emotional voice hits you like a brick in the face!
Filled with grievances and anger, New York Moves to the Sound of LA starts the album with this powerful feeling of boredom for the music that is being produced and the city they hail from. The energy stops for a second as Car Wars’ soft start lulls you into a false sense of relief before kicking you down with the same pulse that drove you onward from the outset. Just Because is a beautiful track, driving, throbbing and blissfully painful. It has everything you could ask from music. And finally, new single Finale is possibly my favourite on the album.
The entire album follows the same raw yet beautiful premise.
If you can only pick up one album all year and you can only afford to see one band all year, take my advice… hear them, see them and love them; I know you will.
