Foals – Brixton Academy, London

Foals, a band I’ve seen an accountable amount of times to date, but have always come out sweat drenched and filled with floods of childish ecstasy. Today of course, was no different.

A building crowd of teenagers and 20 something’s made up the excited crowd that slowly found their way into every crease and corner of one of London’s most reputable venues. Some said Brixton, too big for Foals? I disagree, if anything, too small. As they kicked off movement was hard, the crowd bulging to the sides, each man for their own. But it was evident this was going to be a rowdy one from the off, with a collection of the audience jumping from track one. Sparking off with the new single ‘Blue Blood’ Foal’s straight away laid down their mark, each member slowly taking the stage and layering in their element, ending in a huge wall of guitar fuelled sound.

Moments of absolute brilliance came tonight, especially with the keenly awaited rendition of ‘Spanish Sahara,’ as it built faces of complete awe surrounded the crowd only to be smashed into ruckus as the tune dropped into its electric ending.

The set consisted of a proven mix of new and old, playing most of Antidotes, Foals brang their own lovely warm summery vibe to the cloudy grey skies of South East London.

After an aggressive evening, the band topped it all off with a 3 song encore, finishing with the amazing ‘Two Steps Twice,’ in which Yannis dived into the midst of teenage bodies clinging together for a touch from the Oxford genius.

Once again, the brilliantly executed, revolutionary versed, Foals, brought down the house. Amazing.
