Senses Fail – The Fire

Senses Fail are renowned for their use of spiritual and emotional lyrical content, and their latest album supports this just the same. The New Jersey post-hardcore outfit worked with producer Brian McTernan at Salad Days studio to create The Fire, which is released on 25th October.

It’s a reflective album based on their experiences over the past two years along with capturing the emotions they’ve had whilst growing and evolving as a band to reach the point they’re at today.

Singer Buddy Nielson states, “I can say without a doubt that we put every single shred of energy and passion into these songs” and after listening to the album there’s certainly no denying this.

Crafted with fast, addictive guitar riffs, sharp breakdowns, rhythmic hooks, and a voice that is so likeable on the ears it makes The Fire so easy to enjoy. They excel at producing powerful choruses, making songs like “Lifeboats” and “Safe House” for me the most memorable.

Tracks like “Coward” and “New Years Eve” are also very appealing as they hold the contrast between the melodic and harmonising vocals against the more aggressive tones. This technique gives the album as a whole a more varied, gritty and dynamic sound.

Fans of Senses Fail won’t be disappointed with this album, and for those of you who haven’t heard of them are likely to be captivated within the first few minutes of turning it on.
