Attack! Attack! – The Latest Fashion

2010 has been a big year for Attack!Attack!, seeing them sign with established label Hassle Records. Their rise to recognition and praise from the likes of Zane Lowe and Fearne Cotton parallels their musical progress. While their first, self-titled album is a parade of feel-good pop punk tunes, ‘The Latest Fashion’ is an edgier, higher impact rock collection with a new maturity but equal memorability. Old fans will not be disappointed while new audiences will surely be alerted to the band’s talents upon hearing this record.

‘My Shoes’ and ‘Seen Me Lately’, with their irresistible sing-along choruses and heavy riffs, bridge the gap from the band’s fresh-faced beginnings to their new standing as established artists. ‘Blood On My Hands’ and ‘Best Mistake’ show the band’s versatility; bold ballads with Starr’s heartfelt vocals, as clear and refined as those of Fallout Boy’s Patrick Stump. Reminiscent of ‘Too Bad Son’ from the first album, they contrast particularly starkly with the title track, which is harder-hitting than anything they’ve previously put out and a sure-fire pit-starter at any Attack!Attack! show.

With such a killer repertoire behind them and a more grown-up image, 2010 may have yet more success in store for the band – will they overtake Welsh peers like Kids in Glass Houses to become Kerrang! pin-up boys?
