The Dutch Uncles – Fragrant

Living the rock star lifestyle can take its toll on a lot of bands. Especially so when you’re only a bunch of teenagers starting out as Mancunian’s the Dutch Uncles discovered. Despite bagging a record contract and recording an album, the band found out that they had too much on their hands. It’s interesting to hear what they’ve become now.
The key to ‘Fragrant’ is a brilliant and intellectual one. If Foals brought the unconventional to today’s indie hipster scene and Everything Everything brought certain idiosyncrasies, then Dutch Uncles takes small elements both and blends them together. Combine this with the passion of Roxy Music and catch Knack like bass lines and you’ve got one hell of a track.
Dutch Uncles are an example of experience. They’ve taken lessons from their shortcomings at the start of their career and managed to become a band craft an interesting progressive pop sound.
