Bombay Bicycle Club – Flaws

So you’re loving the Mumford boy’s and you’ve practically worn out the CD on your player? Thinking of buying another copy? WAIT… have you even considered this band?

Welcome to the Bombay Bicycle Club’s fully acoustic album, the follow up to 2009’s ‘I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose’. London has somehow produced yet another band that carry you gently to the pubs of Ireland. However, without Mumford and Sons becoming as big as they are now, this album may not have even tapped you on the shoulder for your attention. Anyway, enough of those boys we’re here for the up and coming, big indie draws Bombay Bicycle Club.

Opening track ‘Rinse Me Down’ sets the mood for this album with a beat that sort of rocks from side to side and and finger picked guitar with a sound that reminds me of The Postal Service and it’s soft tones that sooth your worries regardless of what they are. The main track that stands out from this album is ‘Ivy & Gold’, it’s up beat rhythm and drive gives life to your soul and urges you to sing-a-long in a sort of drunken Irish pub kind of way. ‘Fairytale Lullaby’ is a track that is perfectly described by it’s own title. The sweetest melody can be found in ‘Dust on the Ground’ while the darkest is found in ‘My God’. Whether that is hidden irony, I do not know and I’m not even going to go there!

All in all this record is perfect to chill with a class of wine and beautiful company. For all you lovers this is even better mixed with soft candle light. If you get that chance to see this band before they hit stages too big for their mood then grab it with both hands so tight that your knuckles turn white. This is probably one of my favourite albums of the year.
