Amidst a flurry of small venue closures and scaremongering headlines about the death of the UK live music scene, we’re pleased to report that The MJR Group will be launching brand new venue The Engine Rooms (Formerly Mo Club) in Southampton for 2015.
With the venue currently undergoing a full renovation that will allow various gigs of 400, 600 & 800 capacity, the expansion of operations will include a full calendar of live music, comedy, theatre, cinema, exhibitions and bespoke festivals to exist alongside it’s long running and highly successful warehouse club nights.
“We’re all really excited about the possibilities with this venue.” states Mike Jones of The MJR Group. “Bringing production / marketing / booking / ticketing and everything in-between in-house is giving us great flexibility and fills a vital gap in the market along the whole South Coast of the UK. Southampton has always been a great place for live events and hopefully we can add further to that in the months and years to come.”
“We’re really looking forward to taking Southampton’s Music scene to the next level in 2015 with The MJR Group, we predict some very exciting times ahead” says Ronnie Scarrott, manager of Engine Rooms.
The MJR Group’s expansion into Southampton comes hot on the heels of their new 550-capacity Bristol venue, The Marble Factory and operating the live music at Bristol’s Motion, Cardiff’s The Globe, Reading’s Sub:89 and Bowery District and London’s Dingwalls.
New team members Tim Bailey, Leanne Powell & Nathan Stone have been instated as part of the expansion plans.
