Introducing: Asylums

Alright, stop the press, we’ve found it – the golden egg laid by the goose of early 2000’s indie – ladies and gentlemen, welcome Asylums.

There was loads of shit music in the last decade (we’re looking at you Art Brut) but some of the better stuff has been a direct influence on great new bands like this lot – a great big slab of fuzzed-up, poppy guitar music that even verges on – dare we say it – an indie anthem.

Asylums take all the good bits of brit-pop and UK indie and leave the tracksuits and daft haircuts at home, splicing it with a Transatlantic and very welcome shot of swaggering cool and punk grit.

If you don’t believe us, check out the deliciously appealing new single The Death of Television, which made us really want to go to an indie disco and scream drunkenly along to Common People really loud.

It’s like The Futureheads are still here playing ‘Hounds of Love’ and everything is okay with the world – good honest tunes from a seemingly lovely bunch of lads, what’s wrong with that eh? Nowt.
